AS/NZS 2451 Hex Nuts
AS/NZS 2451 BSW Hex Nuts are designed for bolted connections using British Standard Whitworth threads, providing a practical fastening solution for applications requiring traditional BSW thread compatibility. Manufactured to the dimensional requirements of AS/NZS 2451, these hex nuts are available in different sizes and materials to suit various fastening requirements.
Steel versions are specified according to the applicable material and mechanical requirements of AS/NZS 2451, while stainless steel options can be supplied where improved corrosion resistance is required. The standard BSW thread profile and six-sided external shape allow the nuts to be matched with compatible BSW bolts and studs and installed using conventional tools. These nuts are suitable for general mechanical assemblies, maintenance and replacement work, machinery, equipment, fabricated steelwork, and other applications using BSW threaded fasteners. When selecting an AS/NZS 2451 nut, customers should confirm the thread diameter, threads per inch (TPI), material, mechanical requirements, and surface finish to ensure proper compatibility with the mating fastener.

Specification:
AS/NZS 2451 BSW Hex Nuts are manufactured according to the dimensional and material requirements of AS/NZS 2451:1998. The nuts use British Standard Whitworth (BSW) threads and are available in different sizes and materials for compatible BSW bolted connections.
Steel nuts are supplied according to the applicable mechanical requirements of the standard, while stainless steel options can be provided for applications requiring enhanced corrosion resistance. Various surface finishes are available according to the service environment. Stainless steel versions should be specified with the applicable stainless steel grade and mechanical requirements. The AS/NZS 2451 dimensional requirements can be applied to stainless steel products, but the standard’s steel mechanical requirements should not automatically be extended to stainless steel.

Application of AS/NZS 2451 Hex Nuts:
Machinery & Mechanical Equipment
AS/NZS 2451 BSW Hex Nuts are suitable for machinery, mechanical equipment, fabricated assemblies, and replacement applications where BSW threaded fasteners are used. Their standardized Whitworth thread makes them suitable for maintaining or replacing compatible existing fasteners.
Maintenance & Replacement Applications
BSW nuts are particularly useful for repair, restoration, maintenance, and replacement work involving equipment or structures designed with traditional British Whitworth threads. They allow existing BSW bolts and studs to be reused without changing the original thread system.
Industrial & Steel Assemblies
These nuts can also be used in industrial equipment, fabricated steelwork, brackets, frames, supports, and general mechanical assemblies where BSW threaded connections are required. Carbon steel and stainless steel options can be selected according to mechanical and environmental requirements.
