DIN928 Square Weld Nuts
DIN 928 Square Weld Nuts are designed to create a permanent threaded fastening point on sheet metal and fabricated components. Four welding projections on the underside of the nut provide defined contact points for projection welding, allowing the nut to be securely attached to the component before the final assembly screw or bolt is installed.
The square body provides a stable shape during welding and assembly, while the internal metric thread provides a ready-to-use fastening point without requiring access to the rear side of the panel. This makes DIN 928 particularly useful for enclosures, brackets, sheet-metal assemblies, machinery panels, and components where a conventional nut cannot be easily held during installation. DIN 928 is specified for M4–M16 coarse metric threads and M8–M16 fine metric threads under DIN 928:2013-12. Material, thread configuration, and surface finish can be selected according to the welding process, corrosion requirements, and service environment.

Specification:
DIN 928 Square Weld Nuts are available in different thread sizes, materials, and surface finishes to suit sheet-metal and fabricated assemblies. The specification can be selected according to the required welding process, thread engagement, corrosion resistance, and service environment. The standard covers M4–M16 coarse metric threads and M8–M16 fine metric threads, with the main dimensional requirements defined for the square body, welding projections, internal thread, and nut height. Material and surface treatment can be specified according to the application and welding requirements.

Material & Welding
Carbon steel DIN 928 weld nuts are suitable for general sheet-metal fabrication and projection welding applications. Stainless steel versions can be selected where corrosion resistance is important, while the material and surface finish should also be compatible with the customer’s welding process.
Welding Note:
Welding parameters should be determined according to the nut material, sheet thickness, welding equipment, projection geometry, and required joint strength. A welding trial may be recommended before mass production when the nut is used with a new sheet material or welding process.
Dimension Chart of DIN928 Square Weld Nuts:
The DIN 928 dimension chart covers the key measurements required to match the weld nut with the sheet metal and mating fastener. Depending on the selected thread size, the chart includes the thread diameter, square body dimensions, nut height, welding projection dimensions, and internal thread details.
When selecting a DIN 928 weld nut, customers should check not only the thread size but also the overall body dimensions and projection arrangement. These dimensions determine the available welding area, the space required around the nut, and whether the nut can be correctly positioned on the component. The standard covers M4–M16 coarse threads and M8–M16 fine threads. For applications outside these ranges or requiring a modified body or projection configuration, dimensions can be manufactured according to a customer drawing.
Selection Tip: The sheet thickness and welding process should be considered together with the nut dimensions. A weld nut that fits the thread specification may still require a different projection or body configuration to achieve the desired welding result.

Application of DIN928 Square Weld Nuts:
Automotive & Sheet Metal Manufacturing
DIN 928 weld nuts are used to create fixed threaded mounting points on automotive panels, brackets, seat components, body parts, and other sheet-metal assemblies. Once welded in position, the nut stays attached to the panel, making subsequent bolt installation easier during final assembly.
Industrial Equipment & Enclosures
They are suitable for machinery covers, electrical cabinets, HVAC equipment, equipment housings, brackets, and fabricated metal components where access to the rear side of the panel is limited. The welded nut provides a permanent internal thread for attaching removable parts or service components.
Stainless Steel & Corrosion-Resistant Equipment
Stainless steel DIN 928 weld nuts can be selected for food-processing equipment, water-treatment systems, outdoor enclosures, and stainless-steel fabrication where resistance to moisture and corrosion is important. The nut material should be matched with the sheet material and welding process for reliable production.
