ASTM F837 Stainless Steel Socket Head Cap Screws

ASTM F837 covers stainless steel socket head cap screws with a hexagon socket drive, commonly used where high strength, corrosion resistance, and a compact fastening design are required. These screws feature a cylindrical head with an internal hexagonal socket, allowing installation in applications with limited access around the fastener.

We manufacture and supply ASTM F837 socket head cap screws in stainless steel, with controlled dimensions, thread accuracy, mechanical properties, and surface finish. Production processes include cold heading, thread rolling, heat treatment or solution treatment where applicable, and dimensional inspection. Different sizes, lengths, stainless steel grades, and finishes can be supplied according to the applicable specification and customer requirements.

Material Chemical Composition:

ASTM F837 socket head cap screws are manufactured from stainless steel alloys specified by the standard, including austenitic and martensitic alloy groups. The selected alloy and its chemical composition provide the required combination of corrosion resistance, formability, and mechanical performance for the specified property condition.

The chemical composition requirements cover elements such as carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, chromium, nickel, copper, and molybdenum, with limits varying according to the specified alloy. Material certificates can be provided to verify the chemical analysis of the supplied material.

Mechanical Property:

ASTM F837 defines mechanical property requirements according to the stainless steel alloy group and material condition. Austenitic stainless steel socket head cap screws may be supplied in annealed (AF) or cold-worked conditions (CW and CW1), while martensitic Group 5 screws are supplied in a heat-treated (HT) condition. The required properties include tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, and core hardness, with the requirements varying according to the alloy group, property condition, and nominal thread diameter.
