ASTM F593 Stainless Steel Bolts & Screws Specification

ASTM F593 is a specification for stainless steel bolts, hex cap screws and studs manufactured for inch-series applications. The standard establishes requirements for stainless steel alloy groups, material conditions and mechanical properties, covering a range of austenitic, martensitic and precipitation-hardening stainless steel materials.

The specification classifies fasteners according to alloy group and material condition, with specific F593 designations defining the applicable material and mechanical requirements. These requirements include chemical composition, tensile strength, yield or proof strength, elongation and hardness, depending on the applicable alloy group and condition.

We routinely manufacture ASTM F593 stainless steel bolts and screws in commonly requested grades, including F593C, F593G and F593H, as well as D6 duplex stainless steel fasteners. These products can be supplied in different inch sizes, thread configurations and dimensions according to the applicable ASTM F593 requirements and customer specifications.

Chemical Composition Requirements of ASTM F593:

ASTM F593 specifies chemical composition requirements for the stainless steel alloy groups covered by the specification. The allowable composition varies between alloys, with elements such as carbon, chromium, nickel, manganese, silicon, phosphorus and sulfur controlled within specified limits. These chemical requirements help define the characteristics of each stainless steel alloy and support the required mechanical properties and material condition of the finished fastener.

Among the stainless steel materials commonly used for fasteners, 304 and 316 are widely selected for their combination of corrosion resistance, durability and suitability for a broad range of applications. Our range includes 304 stainless steel bolts and 316 stainless steel bolts, available in different inch sizes and configurations according to the applicable product requirements.

The table below summarizes the chemical composition requirements for the stainless steel alloys covered by ASTM F593. When selecting a material, the applicable alloy group, F593 designation and material condition should be considered together with the specified chemical composition and mechanical requirements.

ASTM F593 Bolts, Screws and Studs

ASTM F593 specifies requirements for stainless steel bolts, hex cap screws and studs in inch sizes. The specification covers the stainless steel alloy, material condition and mechanical requirements for these fasteners, while the dimensional requirements depend on the specific product type. Common configurations include hex bolts, square head bolts, hex flange bolts, T-head bolts, hexagon socket head cap screws and stud bolts, with their dimensions and configurations defined by the applicable ASME B18 product standards.
