Hex Bolts

Hex bolts are versatile mechanical fasteners featuring a six-sided head that allows easy installation and tightening with standard wrenches or other common tools. They are widely used for joining components in machinery, equipment, steel fabrication and general engineering applications. Compared with smaller or specialized head designs, the hexagonal head provides a practical gripping surface for tightening and removal, while the threaded shank provides a secure and adjustable connection. Hex bolts are available in different diameters, lengths, thread configurations and surface finishes to meet a wide range of fastening requirements.

We manufacture hex bolts in carbon steel, alloy steel and stainless steel, covering both metric and inch-series sizes and a wide range of strength grades. Depending on the application, we can supply standard grades for general fastening, high-strength grades for demanding mechanical applications, and corrosion-resistant stainless steel options for harsh environments. Our production capabilities include cold heading, forging, machining, thread rolling, heat treatment and surface finishing, allowing us to supply both standard and customized hex bolts according to customer specifications.

Dimension Standard:

Hex bolts are available in a wide range of dimensional configurations to meet different international standards and application requirements. We manufacture metric and inch-series hex bolts according to commonly used DIN, ISO and ASME specifications, covering different head dimensions, bolt diameters, lengths, thread lengths and thread configurations. Depending on the selected standard, customers can choose partially threaded or fully threaded designs, as well as different sizes and lengths for specific fastening requirements.

Our standard production includes hex bolts to DIN 931, DIN 933, ISO 4014, ISO 4017 and ASME B18.2.1, while non-standard dimensions can also be produced according to customer drawings or technical specifications.

Mechanical Proeprty:

The mechanical properties of hex bolts vary depending on the material, grade, and applicable fastener standard. We manufacture hex bolts in carbon steel and stainless steel, including SS304 bolts and SS316 bolts, with mechanical properties specified according to internationally recognized standards such as ISO 898-1, SAE J429, ISO 3506-1, ASTM F593, ASTM A193, and ASTM A307. For stainless steel hex bolts, SS304 and SS316 are commonly specified under ISO 3506-1 or ASTM F593, while carbon steel and alloy steel hex bolts are covered by standards such as ISO 898-1, SAE J429, ASTM A193, and ASTM A307. The table below summarizes the main strength grades and mechanical property requirements available for different types of hex bolts.

Quality control of Hex Bolts:

Quality control is carried out throughout the production process to ensure that hex bolts meet the specified dimensional, mechanical and surface requirements. Depending on the product specification, inspections cover raw materials, dimensions, threads, mechanical properties, surface condition and final appearance before shipment. Inspection methods and acceptance criteria are selected according to the applicable standards and customer requirements.

Inspect ItemDetail
Dimensional InspectionCritical dimensions such as bolt diameter, head width, head height, bolt length and thread length are checked using calibrated measuring equipment. Inspection is carried out according to the applicable dimensional standard or customer drawings to ensure consistent fit and interchangeability.
Thread InspectionExternal threads are inspected using calibrated GO and NO-GO thread gauges to verify thread profile, pitch and dimensional conformity. Additional measurements can be performed when tighter thread tolerances or specific customer requirements apply.
Mechanical TestingMechanical properties are verified according to the specified material and strength grade. Depending on the applicable standard, testing may include tensile strength, yield strength, hardness and other required mechanical tests, with test results documented in the relevant inspection or material reports.
Surface & Coating InspectionBolt surfaces are inspected for appearance, defects, coating uniformity and other specified requirements. For coated fasteners, coating thickness and adhesion or other applicable coating characteristics can be checked according to the specified surface treatment standard.
Final Inspection & TestingBefore shipment, finished hex bolts undergo final inspection to confirm dimensions, thread quality, mechanical requirements, surface condition, marking and packaging. Inspection records and test reports can be provided according to the order specification and customer requirements.
