DIN915 Dog Point Set Screws
DIN 915 Dog Point Set Screws feature a cylindrical, flat-ended locating point designed to engage with a hole, groove, or prepared surface on the mating component. Unlike a cup-point set screw that grips directly against a surface, the dog point is intended to provide more controlled positioning while helping maintain the alignment of the secured component. The extended cylindrical point can engage with a pre-drilled hole, slot, or locating feature, making DIN 915 suitable for applications where the position of a component needs to be established repeatedly or where direct surface marking should be minimized. The internal hexagon drive allows the screw to be installed in compact locations with limited access.
DIN 915 set screws are available in carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel, with different material and surface options according to the required mechanical performance and service environment. They are commonly used for shaft positioning, collars, gears, knobs, machine components, fixtures, and adjustment mechanisms. The main reason to choose a DIN 915 dog point is controlled location rather than simply maximum surface grip. When the mating component has a suitable hole, groove, or locating recess, the cylindrical point can provide a more repeatable connection and help maintain the relative position of the components.

Specification:
DIN 915 Dog Point Set Screws are available in carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel, with different material and surface options for mechanical positioning and fastening applications. The cylindrical dog point, internal hexagon drive, thread dimensions, and overall length are controlled according to the applicable specification and customer requirements. For steel versions, heat-treated options can be supplied where higher hardness and wear resistance are required. Stainless steel versions are available for applications where corrosion resistance is more important.
Point & Thread Requirements
The cylindrical dog point is manufactured to provide controlled engagement with a corresponding hole, groove, or locating feature. The thread is produced according to the applicable ISO metric thread system, with 6g external thread tolerance available unless another fit is specified.
Selection Note: The dog point should be matched to the diameter and depth of the mating locating hole or groove. Correct engagement helps maintain component position while allowing the set screw to be tightened through the internal hexagon drive.

Dimension Chart of DIN915 Hexagon Socket Set Screw:
The DIN 915 dimension chart covers the key dimensions required for selecting the correct set screw, including thread diameter, overall length, dog point diameter, dog point length, and internal hexagon size. The dog point dimensions are particularly important when the screw is used with a locating hole or groove, as they determine how the screw engages with the mating component. When selecting the length, customers should consider both the thread engagement and the required dog point penetration. For applications with non-standard locating holes or specific positioning requirements, customized dimensions can be supplied according to drawings.

Application of DIN915 Set Screw:
Precision Locating & Alignment
DIN 915 dog point set screws are suitable for jigs, fixtures, tooling, and machine components where a removable part needs to return to a defined position. The cylindrical point engages with a prepared hole or locating recess to improve repeatable alignment.
Shaft-to-Hub Positioning
The dog point can engage with a machined hole, groove, or locating feature on a shaft to help prevent relative rotation between the shaft and mounted component. This configuration is useful where positive mechanical positioning is preferred over direct surface clamping.
Adjustable Stops & Mechanical Positioning
DIN 915 can also serve as a removable stop or positioning element in adjustment mechanisms, guides, fixtures, and compact machinery. The internal hexagon drive allows the position to be adjusted or the component to be released without requiring access for a conventional wrench.
