Set Screws

Set screws are designed to hold components securely in place, typically by applying pressure through the screw tip or engaging with a mating surface. Depending on the application, different point styles provide different contact conditions and locking characteristics. Common types include flat point, cone point, cup point, and dog point set screws, each suited to specific assembly requirements.

We supply set screws in alloy steel and stainless steel, covering a wide range of metric and inch sizes. Our product range includes DIN 913, DIN 914, DIN 915, DIN 916, and ASME B18.3 configurations, with options for different material grades, mechanical properties, and surface finishes. These screws are used in applications such as securing gears, pulleys, shafts, collars, and other machine components where reliable positioning is required.

Specification:

Our set screws are available in various point styles, including flat point, cone point, dog point, and cup point designs. We supply metric and inch sizes in alloy steel and stainless steel, with dimensional specifications based on DIN 913, DIN 914, DIN 915, DIN 916, and ASME B18.3. Different thread sizes, material grades, and surface finishes are available to meet specific assembly requirements.

Mechanical Proeprty:

ISO 898-5 — Alloy Steel Set Screws

ISO 898-5 specifies the mechanical and physical properties of carbon steel and alloy steel set screws classified by hardness. It covers metric coarse threads from M1.6 to M30 and fine threads from M8 × 1 to M30 × 2.

ISO 3506-3 — Stainless Steel Set Screws

ISO 3506-3 specifies the mechanical and physical properties of set screws made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel, including austenitic and duplex stainless steel grades. The 2025 edition covers metric thread sizes from M1.6 to M24 and establishes requirements for specified steel grades and hardness classes.

ASTM F912 — Alloy Steel Socket Set Screws

ASTM F912 covers quenched and tempered alloy steel socket set screws with hardness requirements of 45–53 HRC, corresponding to property class 45H under ISO 898-5. The metric companion specification, ASTM F912M, covers sizes from M1.6 to M24.

ASTM F880 — Stainless Steel Socket Set Screws

ASTM F880 covers stainless steel socket set screws and specifies requirements for material composition, torque performance, hardness, and corrosion resistance. Its metric companion specification, ASTM F880M, provides corresponding metric requirements. These specifications support the selection of stainless steel set screws for applications where corrosion resistance and reliable installation performance are important.
