DIN933 Hexagon Head Bolts

DIN 933 Hexagon Head Bolts are fully threaded metric fasteners with a six-sided head designed for secure clamping and straightforward wrench installation. With the thread extending up to the underside of the head, the full-thread configuration provides flexibility when the available engagement length varies or when the joint requires continuous threading along the fastener.

We supply DIN 933 bolts in a broad selection of carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, brass, and aluminum, allowing the material to be matched to the required strength, corrosion resistance, weight, conductivity, and service environment. Stainless steel options include A2-70, A2-80, A4-70, and A4-80, while high-strength steel versions are available in 8.8, 10.9, and 12.9. The applicable mechanical and material requirements are selected according to the specified grade and relevant fastener standards. This range makes DIN 933 suitable for applications ranging from general equipment assembly and fabricated metal parts to higher-strength mechanical connections and corrosion-sensitive environments. For each application, the material and property class should be selected according to the required load, operating environment, temperature, corrosion exposure, and mating components rather than choosing the highest available grade by default.

Specification:

DIN933 bolts can be specified according to the material, property class, corrosion resistance, thread requirements, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish required for the application. Our supply range covers common industrial materials as well as higher-strength and corrosion-resistant options, allowing the fastener specification to be matched to the actual working conditions rather than using one material or grade for every application.

For steel applications, carbon steel and alloy steel are available in property classes including 8.8, 10.9, and 12.9. These grades provide different levels of tensile and yield strength and are selected according to the required clamping load and joint design. Mechanical property requirements for applicable steel fasteners are referenced to ISO 898-1. For stainless steel applications, A2-70, A2-80, A4-70, and A4-80 are available, with the appropriate grade selected according to the required combination of mechanical performance and corrosion resistance. Stainless-steel mechanical requirements are covered by ISO 3506-1.

Quality Control:

Material Verification

Material is checked against the specified grade before production. For steel and stainless-steel orders, material certificates and chemical composition can be provided when required. This helps ensure that the supplied fasteners correspond to the ordered material and property class.

Thread Inspection

The metric thread is inspected for major diameter, pitch, thread form, and functional fit using appropriate gauges and measuring equipment. Where specified, the external thread tolerance can be controlled to 6g to ensure compatibility with the customer’s matching nut or tapped hole.

Head and Dimensional Inspection

Critical dimensions such as across-flats width, head height, head diameter, thread length, and overall length are checked against the applicable drawing or standard. This is particularly important for DIN 933 because the hexagon head must provide reliable tool engagement during installation.

Mechanical Performance

For steel fasteners supplied in 8.8, 10.9, or 12.9, mechanical properties are verified according to the applicable requirements of ISO 898-1. Stainless-steel grades such as A2-70, A2-80, A4-70, and A4-80 are controlled according to the relevant requirements of ISO 3506-1.

Application of DIN933 Hex Bolt:

Stainless Steel Applications

DIN 933 stainless steel bolts are commonly selected for equipment and assemblies exposed to moisture, cleaning chemicals, outdoor conditions, or corrosive atmospheres. Typical applications include food-processing equipment, commercial kitchen equipment, water-treatment systems, pumps and valves, HVAC equipment, marine equipment, electrical enclosures, solar mounting systems, and stainless-steel fabrication.

For these applications, A2-70 / A2-80 stainless steel is suitable for many general corrosion-resistant environments, while A4-70 / A4-80 can be considered where higher corrosion resistance is required, particularly in chloride-containing or marine environments. The final grade should be selected according to the actual service conditions.

Carbon and Alloy Steel Applications

DIN 933 carbon and alloy steel bolts are more commonly used where mechanical strength, clamping force, and cost efficiency are important. Typical applications include industrial machinery, machine tools, steel structures, agricultural machinery, construction equipment, trailers, material-handling equipment, industrial frames, brackets, and heavy-duty mechanical assemblies.

For higher mechanical requirements, 8.8, 10.9, and 12.9 grades can be selected according to the required joint strength and design conditions. Surface treatments such as zinc plating, zinc flake, or black oxide can additionally be specified according to the required corrosion protection and operating environment.

Equipment Assembly & Maintenance

The standard external hexagon head makes DIN 933 suitable for equipment that requires regular assembly, adjustment, or maintenance. Wrenches, sockets, and power tools can be used for installation, making these bolts practical for machine frames, access panels, brackets, guards, fixtures, and replacement fasteners.

Material Selection

For customers choosing between stainless steel and carbon/alloy steel, the decision should be based on the actual service environment and mechanical requirements rather than material preference alone. Stainless steel is generally preferred when corrosion resistance is important, while carbon or alloy steel is often selected when higher mechanical strength and economical fastening are the main priorities.
